Lab Safety- Sam Studer

Main Idea:
Performing and teaching science safety
• Watching out for yourself and everyone else in the lab
• Anticipating problems and preventing them
• Being careful and aware of your surroundings

Reflection:
While looking up information of lab safety, there was a lot of information about lab safety and most of it is relating to the same thing, be aware. Somethings that are important to remember about lab safety is that safety is about understanding risks, eliminating or minimizing hazards as much as possible, and being aware of the hazards that cannot be eliminated. A thing that I thought was interesting was that the lab safety has been in service for the past 30 years and still up and going which is pretty cool. Somethings that I already knew was that you have to be wearing the right clothing and gear (glasses, lab coat, gloves, etc.), have to know what you are working with, and read everything before starting the lab/experiment. This objective was interesting looking up but it was also common sense. Lab safety is pretty much saying that you need to be aware and think before you do. This will help me in the real world a lot because I want to become an Anesthesiologist when I'm older and here I would need to be using lab safety all the time like when I'm using the monitors, oxygen pumps, shots, etc.

  2. Your post really helped me understand your topic with how organized it is, how detailed your reflection is, and your choice in pictures. I like the way you related lab safety to how you could use it in your life. Good at citing your sources as well.

  3. You put enough information down to help me understand the topic and what I should do and wear for my safety during a lab. Will you always wear your safety gear every time you do a lab? You should have named what each picture represents for the lab safety symbols.
